Homeless Emergency Declared in Hawaii

By: Greg Botelho

On Friday the governor of Hawaii signed an emergency proclamation to fix the number of people without homes in the state. With 7,620 homeless people and 465 people per 100,000 citizens, Hawaii has the highest rate of homelessness in the country. The proclamation would like to allow $1.3 million to solve the problem in the state by setting up shelters and eventually a housing facility for all families. I chose to read this article and wrote about it because i wondered if the issue was due to a storm or something else occurring in the state. I also see homelessness in many other states around the country and i wondered about the problem in Hawaii as well as the other states in the country. CLICK HERE FOR FULL ARTICLE
